In the New Era, Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners from All Over the World Gathered in Southwest China-The 7th Summer Summit of the World Congress of Traditional Chinese Medicine was held in Guiyang

       On June 25th, the 7th Summer Summit of the World Congress of Traditional Chinese Medicine opened in Guiyang, Guizhou Province. With the theme of "Inheritance, Innovation, Integration and Development-Promoting High-quality Chinese Medicine to the World", the conference aims to promote traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) to the world more widely in the new era and help TCM to integrate into the construction of "the belt and road initiative" with high quality. Guided by National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the people's governments of Guizhou Province, the conference was co-sponsored by World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies (WFCMS), Guizhou Provincial Health and Health Commission, Guizhou Provincial Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Guiyang Municipal People's Government, and undertaken by Guiyang Municipal Health and Health Bureau and Guizhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Ma Jianzhong, President of the WFCMS, attended the meeting and delivered an opening speech; Liu Xiaofeng, vice chairman of the 12 th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and Huang Luqi, deputy director of the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine and member of the party group, delivered video speeches for the conference; Hu Zhongxiong, member of the Standing Committee of Guizhou Provincial Party Committee and Secretary of Guiyang Municipal Party Committee, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech; Dong Jialu, deputy governor of Guizhou Provincial People's Government, and Zhu Haidong, deputy director of International Cooperation Department,National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine attended the opening ceremony; Li Yazhen, Senior Technical Officer of the Traditional Medicine Cooperation Department of the World Health Organization, and Shen Yuandong, Chairman of the International Organization for Standardization ISO/TC249 attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches; 18 vice-presidents of WFCMS sent congratulatory videos to the conference from all over the world. Sang Binsheng, Vice Chairman and Secretary General of WFMCS, and An Shihai, Deputy Director of Guizhou Provincial Health and Health Commission and Director of Provincial Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, presided over the opening ceremony.

       In his welcome speech, Ma Jianzhong said that the WFCMS is the largest international academic organization of TCM in the world, covering 74 countries and regions on five continents, with a total of 284 group member societies and 202 branches. WFCMS is a official member of the World Health Organization, and maintains official relations with many international organizations such as UNESCO and the International Organization for Standardization. In October 2021, WFCMS won the "Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council", which will help promote the communication between WFCMS and the United Nations and other international organizations, and deeply participate in global health governance. WFCMS will continue to actively fulfill its obligations as an international organization and give full play to its role as a bridge between domestic and foreign TCM groups, experts and scholars. WFCMS has the confidence and ability to serve TCM experts, scholars and practitioners at home and abroad, promote the high-quality international dissemination and development of TCMS, and help the construction of "the belt and road initiative".

       Li Yachan said that one of the important goals of the World Health Organization is to work with member countries to increase the coverage of 1 billion people in 3 aspects: full health coverage, responding to public health emergencies and promoting people's healthier, and traditional medicine will certainly play an important role in this process.

       Li Yazhen said that the WHO Report on the Update and Future of Traditional Medicine stated that as of 2018, the number of countries with legal and regulatory frameworks for traditional and complementary medicine has increased to 109, and the number of countries with national offices for traditional and complementary medicine has increased to 107. A total of 124 countries reported that they have formulated laws and regulations on herbal medicines, 78 countries reported that they have formulated regulations on traditional and complementary medicine service providers, and 45 countries reported that traditional and complementary medicine have been included in (private and public) health insurance.

       Shen Yuandong said in his speech that the WFCMS is an A-level liaison organization of the International Organization for Standardization/Technical Committee of Traditional Chinese Medicine (ISO/TC 249). During the epidemic situation in the past three years, we are pleased to see that the WFCMS has gone against the trend and has not stopped promoting TCM to the world, making great contributions to the prevention and treatment of "COVID-19 pandemic" and the global development of TCM. We sincerely admire the efforts and achievements made by the WFCMS for the all-round. Shen Yuandong said that the International Organization for Standardization/Technical Committee of Traditional Chinese Medicine (ISO/TC 249) has developed together with the WFCMS since its establishment 13 years ago. Up to now, we have 45 members and have issued 95 ISO international standards for TCM. At present, on the platform of ISO/TC 249, there have been many successful cases of promoting the globalization of TCM by international standardization.

       After the speech, the awarding ceremony of the 7th International Contribution Award of Traditional Chinese Medicine was held, and the leading guests presented awards to the winners of the International Contribution Award of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

       Subsequently, the unveiling ceremony of the specialty committee of Miao, Dong and Yao Medicine, "Professor Wen Jianmin's Studio of National Famous Old Chinese Medicine" of Guiyang Fourth People's Hospital and "Professor Wang Lixin's Famous Doctor Studio" of Wudang District Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine of Guiyang City were held respectively. Xu Chunbo, deputy secretary-general of the WFCMS, awarded the license to the Miao, Dong and Yao specialty committee of WFCMS; Lin Ziqiang, Vice Chairman of the WFCMS, An Shihai, Director of Guizhou Provincial Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Liu Lan, Vice Mayor of Guiyang Municipal People's Government, and Chen Lixin, Deputy Secretary-General of the WFCMS, respectively unveiled the "National Famous Old Chinese Medicine Professor Wen Jianmin Studio" and "Professor Wang Lixin Famous Doctor Studio".

       During the summer summit, the president-level meeting of the specialty committees of the WFCMS of China and the WFCMS Council were also held, and many academic forums were held, such as the Forum on Revitalization and Development of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the Forum on High-quality Development of "Qiandi Lingyao", the Seminar on High-quality Development of World Traditional Chinese Medicine Education, the Forum on Development of Miao, Dong and Yao Ethnic Medicine, the 2023 Academic Annual Meeting of the academic Committee of Five Movements and Six Qi, the inaugural meeting of the Working Committee of the WFCMS of China Medical Association, the 2023 Academic Annual Meeting of the specialty Committee of Traditional Chinese Medicine Recuperation Research, the Frontier Forum on Reversal Research of Type 2 Diabetes in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Health Management, the Value Exploration of Ethnic Medicine in National Chronic Disease Prevention and Control, and the First Qihuang Scholars ( Ramon, Chairman of the Board of Supervisors of the WFCMS, Lin Ziqiang, Zhao Yingjie, Sun Qingfu, Wu Binjiang and Ye Fukun, Vice Chairmen of the Board of Supervisors of the WFCMS, Cui Pengde, Liu Chijing and Yu Funian came from all over the world to attended the conference; Other vice-chairmen and members of the Council and Board of Supervisors of WFCMS attended the meeting online. Natioanl Master of TCM Liu Shangyi, Tang Zuxuan, Wang Xinlu, He Chengyao and Lin Tiandong, presidents of TCM colleges and universities at home and abroad, heads of branches of WFCMS, presidents and presidents of member societies of WFCMS around the world, and more than 1,000 Chinese medicine experts, scholars and enterprise representatives from 20 countries and regions around the world attended the conference. 9.62 million people from 5 continents watched the live broadcast of the conference online.
