The Fourth Plenary Session of the Fifth Council Board, Executive Council, and Supervisory Board of the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies Convenes Successfully

On November 1, 2025, the Fourth Plenary Session of the Fifth Council Board, Executive Council, and Supervisory Board of the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies (WFCMS) was successfully held in Sydney, Australia. Members of the Council Board and Supervisory Board from 24 countries and regions worldwide, including Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Fiji, France, Germany, Hong Kong China, Japan, Macao China, Malaysia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Portugal, Russia, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Taiwan China, Thailand, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Vietnam, attended the meeting.
Mr. MA Jianzhong, Chairperson of WFCMS, presented the Working Report for the Fourth Plenary Session of the Fifth Executive Council and the Fourth Plenary Session of the Fifth Supervisory Board. He systematically reviewed the work achievements of WFCMS over the past year, analyzed the new landscape and challenges currently facing the international development of Chinese medicine, and outlined key priorities for the next steps: to further improve the international standard system for Chinese medicine and promote its modernization and internationalization; to strengthen the living inheritance of Chinese medicine and the cultivation of high-level talent; to accelerate the informatization development of Chinese medicine and enhance its health service capabilities; to deepen cooperation with countries along the "Belt and Road" and the global service system for Chinese medicine; and to enhance collaboration with international organizations to jointly address global health challenges.
The session was chaired by Mr. LI Yu, Vice Chairperson and Secretary-General of WFCMS.
The meeting reviewed and approved The Third Supplement of the Fifth Council Board of the WFCMS. Ms. WANG Jing, Director of the International Liaison Department, provided explanations regarding the supplementary council members.
During the session for reports from candidate cities for hosting the 23rd World Congress of Chinese Medicine, representatives from Singapore (Singapore City), the United Kingdom (Manchester City), and Belgium (Brussels City) provided detailed introductions regarding their preparations, venue conditions, policy support, and cultural facilities, respectively.
Following a vote by the Council Board, the TCM SCPA - Singapore Chinese Physicians Association was awarded the hosting rights for the 23rd World Congress of Chinese Medicine in 2026.
The meeting also featured in-depth discussions on topics such as the future development strategy of WFCMS, the formulation and promotion of international standards, the protection of traditional knowledge of Chinese medicine, and the global cultivation of Chinese medicine talent.
Attendees unanimously agreed on the need to continue strengthening international cooperation to promote the standardized development and application of Chinese medicine worldwide.
The meeting concluded successfully in an atmosphere of unity, pragmatism, and innovation, charting the course for WFCMS's work in 2026 and laying a solid foundation for the successful hosting of the 23rd World Congress of Chinese Medicine.
