The 5^th World Congress of Chinese Medicine was held on October 15^th in Macao, which was organized by WFCMS and hosted by Macao Association of Chinese Medicine. Ho Hau Wah, the Chief Executive of the Macau Special Administrative Region of P. R. China, Wang Guoqiang, Deputy Minister of Ministry of Health and Director-general of State Administration of TCM, P. R. China, She Jing, Chairperson of WFCMS, Song Yanbin, the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of P. R. China in Macao, Ramon, Chairperson of Supervision Board of WFCMS, and Lim Iat Cho, Chairperson of Macao Association of Chinese Medicine attended the ceremony of the congress. The ceremony was held by Li, Zhenji Vice-Chairperson and Director-general of WFCMS. There were altogether 1200 delegates joining in this international congress from 37 countries (regions).

The speech given by Wang Guoqiang has been shown as the following. With the great support of Chinese government and international colleagues, the industry of Chinese Medicine is growing rapidly. Since the reform and opening up, Chinese Medicine has spread extensively around the world. Chinese herbs and acupuncture have been applied in more than 170 countries and regions. Recently, WHO has paid more attention to development of traditional medicine and given more supports. Chinese medicine has been playing a more important role in the health care system, and is quickening its step towards to the world. Chinese government will still give more support to the development of Chinese medicine as before.

According to She Jing’s introduction, presently, there are about 186 society members from 56 countries (regions) in WFCMS, as the largest international organization in the world. It is still the main task of WFCMS to promote the cooperation and academic exchange of Chinese medicine, increase the ability of Chinese Medicine practitioners and make itself modernization.  

The theme of the congress is Continuity of Development and Mission of Chinese Medicine. All the delegates have joined the discussion on the strategy of Chinese Medicine development, theory and research of Chinese Medicine. They shared their own experience and made communication about the clinical Chinese Medicine, education and scientific research products development. It is really a high standard international congress.
