Inaugural Meeting of WFCMS Specialty Committee of Translation and the First International Conference on Chinese Medicine and Chinese Culture Translation: Call for Presentations

 March 20, 2008

The Inaugural Meeting of WFCMS Specialty Committee of Translation and the First International Conference on Translation of Chinese Medicine and Chinese Culture (including English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Japanese, Korean and Arabian etc.) will be held in August 1-3, 2008 in Shanghai Normal University, P. R. China. The aim of the Specialty Committee of Translation is to unite translators of Chinese medicine and Chinese culture in the world to promote international dissemination, exchange and development of Chinese medicine and Chinese culture.  

I. Conference topics:

1. Theoretic study and practical summarization of Chinese medicine and Chinese culture translation

2. International dissemination, exchange and development of Chinese medicine and Chinese culture

3£®International education and cooperation of Chinese medicine and Chinese culture

4. International standardization of Chinese medical terminology and the compilation of bilingual dictionaries of Chinese medicine

5. Corpus for Chinese medicine purpose

6. Translation of classics of Chinese medicine and Chinese culture

7. Bilingual teaching and international education of Chinese medicine and Chinese culture

8. Postgraduate education for students majoring in Chinese medicine translation

9. Clinical translation and oral interpretation

10. The related topics

 

II. Submission details 

All proposals should include the following information:

1. Your name and professional association, company or employment status, or university

2. Your address, telephone number, fax number and e-mail address

3. The title, type and language of your presentation (in Chinese, English or French only)

4. The most appropriate topic heading for your proposal

5. An abstract, in Chinese or English, of not more than 300 words

III.  Deadlines

1. Abstract submission: June 30, 2008

    2. Full text submission: July 20, 2008 

    IV. Submission

Please submit your proposal preferably by e-mailing it to jinsq@shnu.edu.cn or zhooushi@163.com, or by posting it on a 3.5" floppy disc or CD-R as an RTF or Word file, together with two paper copies, to:
