President Chen Zanyu provided an overview of the general development of Chinese medicine in the United Kingdom. He stated that in recent years, public awareness and acceptance of Chinese medicine in the UK have been continuously increasing, and Chinese medicine has entered a stage of "taking root and sprouting." The membership of the FTCMP has been growing steadily, and the UK has become one of the most convenient countries for accessing Chinese herbal medicine. He expressed the view that Chinese medicine is not only a form of healthcare but also an important vehicle for Chinese culture. Utilizing Chinese medicine to serve public health can promote cultural exchange between China and the UK.
Secretary-General Li Yu commended the efforts made by the FTCMP in promoting the development of Chinese medicine. He pointed out that WFCMS is always committed to uniting the global Chinese medicine community to jointly advance the international exchange, dissemination, and development of Chinese medicine. He suggested that both sides could work together to promote the establishment of clinical research centers, collaborate with UK medical institutions, universities, and clinical experts on joint projects, and enhance the scientific research and clinical standards of Chinese medicine.
During the talks, both sides also exchanged in-depth views on topics including overseas legislation for Chinese medicine, education and training, and standard formulation. The meeting was also attended by the head of the International Liaison Department.
