To promote interdisciplinary integration, drive the intelligent upgrading of the entire TCM industry chain, and enhance the international discourse power of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), the 1st World Congress on Artificial Intelligence in TCM, organized by the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies (WFCMS) and hosted by Zhejiang Chinese Medical University(ZCMU), will be held from June 26 to 28, 2026 in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, China. Currently, the application of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies in the field of TCM is in the stage of exploration and initial practice. Attempts have been made in areas such as assisted diagnosis and treatment, analysis of classical formulas, new drug development, and intelligent health preservation, showing certain development potential. This conference aims to establish an industry milestone, a global resource hub, and an industrial accelerator, building a “TCM + AI” ecosystem worth hundreds of billions. Experts, scholars, government officials, and corporate representatives from around the world will gather to share cutting-edge theories, technological achievements, implementation cases, and management policies on AI empowering TCM.
To deepen the integrated development of traditional Chinese medicine and artificial intelligence and fully demonstrate the innovative achievements of “TCM + AI”, the sub-venue themed Seminar on the Protection of Original TCM Achievements and Industrial Upgrading from the Perspective of Digital-Intelligence Integration & 2026 Annual Academic Conference of the Working Committee of Intellectual Property Protection of the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies will be held concurrently, co-organized by the Fuyang Institute of Zhejiang Chinese Medical University and the Working Committee of Intellectual Property Protection of the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies (WFCMS).

III.Main Themes of the Sub-forum
This sub venue is based on the trend of integrated development of data and intelligence, anchoring the dual goals of intellectual property protection of traditional Chinese medicine and high-quality development of the industry, and building a high-end communication platform integrating industry, academia, research and application.
The conference will conduct in-depth discussions around three core directions. Firstly, it will explore the value of digital intelligence technology empowerment, relying on artificial intelligence, big data, intelligent retrieval, algorithm deduction and other technologies to broaden the application path of digital technology in the fields of ancient book and ancient formula mining, intelligent research and development, digital evidence storage, and industry standard optimization; The second is to improve the intellectual property protection system, focusing on core resources of traditional Chinese medicine such as ancient prescriptions, authentic medicinal herbs, and original technologies, and building a diversified protection layout of patents, trade secrets, geographical indications, copyrights, and data intellectual property coordinated and linked; The third is to connect the development chain of achievement transformation, rely on the collaborative model of industry university research, improve the full process management system of intellectual property rights, and explore the implementation path of patent marketization and industrial application of scientific and technological achievements. The specific sub forum topics are as follows:
1.Topic 1: Empowering Traditional Chinese Medicine Industry Innovation Practice with Digital Intelligence Technology
Combining AI intelligent retrieval, data processing, and intelligent recognition technology, explore the application path and practical implementation of digital technology in the upgrading of traditional Chinese medicine industry, analysis of ancient books and formulas, intelligent research and development, digital certification, and optimization of industry standards.
2.Topic 2: Exploring Intellectual Property Protection and Diversified Layout of Original Achievements in Traditional Chinese Medicine
Focusing on the pain points of the current difficulty in confirming intellectual property rights in traditional Chinese medicine, fragmented layout, and insufficient international protection, this paper explores the construction of a diversified full chain protection and strategic layout system for patents, trade secrets, geographical indications, copyrights, and data intellectual property rights, focusing on core resources such as original Chinese medicine technologies, classic ancient formulas, and authentic medicinal herbs.
3.Topic 3: Transformation of Traditional Chinese Medicine Achievements and High Quality Industrial Development Driven by Intellectual Property Rights
Relying on the collaborative model of industry university research cooperation, we aim to streamline the entire process of intellectual property creation, confirmation, protection, application, and management, explore the implementation path of empowering technological achievements with intellectual property, and promote the market-oriented transformation of patents, in order to assist the standardization, intelligence, internationalization, and high-quality upgrading of the traditional Chinese medicine industry.
4. Roundtable Forum: Empowering Industry University Research Deep Integration with Digital Intelligence
Adhering to the trend of digital development of artificial intelligence, exploring the application logic of AI and big data technology in collaborative innovation between industry, academia, and research institutions, breaking down barriers to linkage between research institutes, universities, and industrial enterprises, focusing on the operation and transformation of intellectual property rights such as traditional Chinese medicine data assets, ancient formula resources, and original technologies, improving the value realization system of knowledge assets, cultivating new forms of traditional Chinese medicine knowledge economy, and empowering the high-quality development of industrial scale and intelligence.
